<p>Italy has some of the best Christmas markets. They are a great place to get a feel for the local traditions, sample the local delicacies, and see the work of local artisans.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-color" style="color:#eb5b2d">Ortisei Christmas Village</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1000" height="500" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Ortisei2.jpg" alt="Ortisei Christmas Market" class="wp-image-2791" style="width:850px" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Ortisei2.jpg 1000w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Ortisei2-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Ortisei2-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Ortisei2-480x240.jpg 480w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>Like every year in December, <strong>Ortisei </strong>turns into the &#8220;<a href="https://www.christmasvalley.it/nadelurtijei/en">Christmas Village</a>&#8221; and is definitely on of the top Christmas Markets in Italy. In the wooden huts you can discover sculptures, candles and glass objects made by master craftsmen but also South Tyrolean spirits and wines. The Christmas Village combines the historical traditions of Val Gardena with the elegance and exclusivity of the range of products. The “Lodenlounges”, cosy and comfortable wooden huts, invite visitors to experience the market with all five senses, by tasting local products and gastronomic delicacies in a romantic atmosphere.</p>

<p>In the streets of the town, the exhibition of the nativity scenes displayed in the showcase booths is also worth visiting and, as every year, an additional human-sized wooden statue will be added to enrich the largest nativity scene in the world. Open until January 4, 2026.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-color" style="color:#eb5b2d"><strong>Merano Christmas Market</strong></h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="750" height="500" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Merano.jpg" alt="Merano Christmas Market" class="wp-image-2793" style="width:850px" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Merano.jpg 750w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Merano-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Merano-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Merano-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Merano</strong> in South Tyrol is a town known as a place for relaxation and well-being. They carry this way of life into the holiday season by hosting a market that captures the magic of Christmas. Experience snow reaching the summit of the alpine peaks, community togetherness, and the smell of cinnamon and fresh pastries. The whole town is embellished for the season, and in the central square you can watch figure skating shows or hit the ice yourself. Afterwards, warm up with a cup of tea or mulled wine in the heated booths, while admiring the backdrop of snow-tipped mountains. The sparkling Christmas lights at night are enough to bring visitors, but they also do us a huge favor in selling locally made woolen and wooden goods, in addition to other local crafts. The <a href="https://www.merano-suedtirol.it/en/merano/info-service/events/merano-christmas-market.html">Merano Christmas Market</a> is open until January 6, 2026</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Venice-Christmas-Market-1024x683.jpg" alt="Venice Christmas Market" class="wp-image-2797" style="width:850px" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Venice-Christmas-Market-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Venice-Christmas-Market-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Venice-Christmas-Market-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Venice-Christmas-Market-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Venice-Christmas-Market-600x400.jpg 600w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Venice-Christmas-Market.jpg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>For the three weeks before&nbsp;Christmas&nbsp;&#8211; until December 24th &#8211;&nbsp;<strong>Campo Santo Stefano</strong>&nbsp;in <strong>Venice</strong> is transformed into a&nbsp;Christmas Village,&nbsp; entirely filled with craftsmen and food producers, whose displays are housed in 30 little wooden cabins. The square is lined with a backdrop picturing Venetian palaces, giving the whole scene a festival atmosphere.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.venice-tourism.com/en/venice-christmas-market">Venice Christmas Market</a> features Christmas ornaments and decorations of Murano glass, traditional carnival<strong> </strong>masks, ceramics, jewelry, marbled paper and other Venetian craft specialties. Murano glass is also used in jewelry, alone or worked into designs with silver and gold. Carnival masks can be as simple as the red, gold and black eye masks or elaborate creations from the studios of all the town.</p>

<p>One section of the Campo San Stefano market is devoted to Italian specialty foods – traditional cakes and sweets, fine olive oils, vintage balsamic vinegars and other locally made gourmet products fill the booths. Look for creamy white almond-studded nougat, fruit-filled Panettone from nearby Verona, bags of specialty Pastas, tiny Biscotti, dried Porcini Mushrooms, candied Chestnuts and delicacies made with precious white Truffles from Alba. Open until December 24, 2025.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-color" style="color:#eb5b2d">Rome Christmas Market</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="770" height="424" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Rome-Christmas-Piazza-Navona2.jpg" alt="Rome Christmas Market" class="wp-image-2799" style="width:850px" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Rome-Christmas-Piazza-Navona2.jpg 770w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Rome-Christmas-Piazza-Navona2-300x165.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Rome-Christmas-Piazza-Navona2-768x423.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 770px) 100vw, 770px" /></figure>

<p>The Eternal City’s most famous markets are in the <strong>Piazza Navona</strong>, built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian and now home to three spectacular fountains. During the season, the square transforms into a bustling, colorful shopping spot, selling nativity scenes and Christmas sweets, like biscuits and nougat. Wander around and watch the street artists and acrobats and of course, visit Santa Claus. But be sure to come back on January 6, when Befana hands out presents to good kids and coal to the not-so-good ones. Rome&#8217;s <a href="https://www.turismoroma.it/it/eventi/mercatino-di-natale-e-festa-della-befana-piazza-navona-1">Christmas Market</a> (the link on Rome&#8217;s website has not been updated yet) at Piazza Navona is open until January 6, 2026.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-color" style="color:#eb5b2d">Naples Nativity Scene</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="700" height="465" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Naples-Nativity.jpg" alt="Christmas Market Naples" class="wp-image-2801" style="width:847px" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Naples-Nativity.jpg 700w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Naples-Nativity-300x199.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Naples-Nativity-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Naples-Nativity-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></figure>

<p>Known for its rich history, incredible architecture and mouth-watering Neapolitan cuisine, <strong>Naples</strong> city center is bustling with vibrant energy, creating a unique holiday experience. In December, the city becomes a festive hub at the <a href="https://www.italia.it/en/campania/things-to-do/nativity-sets-in-naples-and-campania">Naples Christmas Market</a>, where visitors can explore wooden stalls filled with artisanal crafts and traditional Italian holiday foods. Definitely one of the top Christmas Markets.</p>

<p>If you’re one of those people who think Christmas is over too quickly, Naples is the city for you! Famous for their nativity scenes, or <em>presepi</em>, they have a year-round Christmas “market”. Shops and entire streets offer the traditional figurines every month of the year. Starting around mid-November, the street Via San Gregorio truly enhances the holiday feels! Get lost among the many market stands and shops selling local treats. Stroll down the narrow alleyways and then check out the live nativity scene is Piazza S. Gaetano.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading has-text-color" style="color:#eb5b2d">Taormina Christmas Market</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="500" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Taormina.jpg" alt="Christmas Market Taormina" class="wp-image-2803" style="width:850px" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Taormina.jpg 750w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Taormina-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Taormina-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Taormina-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></figure>

<p><strong>Taormina</strong>, though beautiful all year round, becomes even more magical in Christmas time, and it&#8217;s a great spot for those who prefer mild temperatures to snow. During December and through Epiphany, a folkloric atmosphere takes over the small, hilltop town with concerts, exhibitions, nativity scenes, and historical enactments. The stands are full of sweets, like Sicilian cakes, crafts, and everything you need to decorate for the season.</p>

<p>Trace your way through history while navigating the medieval streets in the ‘Presepe Vivente’ where the nativity scene comes to life throughout the city, incorporating the entire community. Enjoy the symbolic tradition of lighting the Christmas bonfire in front of Duomo di Taormina. While enjoying the breathtaking sea views and Mt. Etna from the city center and admiring the twinkling lights and decorations interwoven with the ancient buildings, Taormina is the embodiment of Christmas time. Open until January 6, 2026.</p>

Each village offers something different but all are fantastic bases for enjoying the superb skiing and diverse range of activities on offer.</p>

<p>With four Michelin-stars to its name, Alta Badia is famous for its gastronomic scene. As well as many gourmet restaurants, the resort is also popular for its traditional Ladin cuisine and there are a number of food-based initiatives to enjoy in summer and winter through the <a href="https://www.altabadia.org/en/italian-alps-dolomites/food-and-drink/peaks-of-gastronomy.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Peaks of Gastronomy</a> program, from cookery demonstrations to tasting tours.</p>

<p>Often referred to as “The Queen of the Dolomites”, Cortina d’Ampezzo has a rich history, blending local traditions and heritage with a cosmopolitan lifestyle. Since then, the resort has gone from strength to strength with its picturesque town center and wide variety of wellness and sporting activities drawing visitors from around the world. In fact, Cortina will again host the Winter Olympic Games in 2026. </p>

<p>Home to one of the best shopping streets in the Alps, Corso Italia, Cortina is extremely popular with fashionistas. This central pedestrian road displays some of the most prestigious and exclusive brands in the world, alongside jewelers, antique shops and artisan’s workshops. <h4 class="wp-block-heading">Summer has ended. In fact, with the arrival of the fall equinox we can declare it officially over&#8230; but not in our thoughts and in the desire to stay outdoors and still take advantage of as many hours of daylight and mild days as possible.</h4>

<p>And so even in the city you can feel a little bit of vacation, sipping a drink at sunset or daring the last swims in the pool, strictly with a view. For those who do not resign themselves to the end of summer, here are some of the most interesting and best rooftops in Italy where you can enjoy the view and relax.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Merano, wellness and panoramas</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Rooftop-Hotel-Therme-Merano-1024x683.jpg" alt="Rooftop Hotel Therme Merano" class="wp-image-2675" width="850" height="551"/></figure></div>

<p>Those who are planning a mountain getaway to take advantage of the last mild days can make a reservation at <strong>Hotel Therme Merano</strong>, South Tyrol’s only spa hotel, which on the top floor counts on the <strong><a href="https://www.hoteltermemerano.it/en/spa-thermal-baths/sky-spa/31-0.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sky Spa&#8217;s</a></strong> panoramic terrace with breathtaking views of the city&#8217;s rooftops and the surrounding mountains.&nbsp; Here, after relaxing in the infinity pool or with a massage, you can try the cocktails offered by the barman such as the&nbsp;<strong>Sky Aperitif</strong>&nbsp;made with limoncello produced directly by the hotel, Prosecco and Bio Lemon. Or, choose the non-alcoholic <strong>Healthy</strong> with apple, ginger, cucumber and lemon.</p>

<div style="height:50px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Milan, drinks with a skyline view</strong></h2>

<p>The atmosphere becomes decidedly more metropolitan and contemporary in&nbsp;Milan, where there are several&nbsp;spots from which&nbsp;to admire the Milanese skyline with a cocktail in hand.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Rooftop-Organics-SkyGarden-1024x683-1.jpg" alt="Rooftop Organics SkyGarden" class="wp-image-2677" width="850" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Rooftop-Organics-SkyGarden-1024x683-1.jpg 1024w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Rooftop-Organics-SkyGarden-1024x683-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Rooftop-Organics-SkyGarden-1024x683-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Rooftop-Organics-SkyGarden-1024x683-1-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Rooftop-Organics-SkyGarden-1024x683-1-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p><strong>Palazzo Ripetta</strong>, the new 5-star hotel in the center of Rome, inaugurates the&nbsp;<strong>Etere </strong>rooftop.&nbsp;Located between Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna, the hotel is inside a&nbsp;building which housed the&nbsp;<em>Conservatorio della Divina Provvidenza</em> in the 17th century; became a hotel in the 1960s after its renovation by architect Luigi Moretti and in 2020 jumped into the luxury segment thanks to a major redevelopment desired by the owners, the Ginobbi Group. The structure and the&nbsp;78 rooms and suites&nbsp;were redesigned according to the standards of luxury hospitality: design, comfort and refined materials.</p>

<p>Now, with the inauguration of the terrace, <strong><a href="https://www.palazzoripetta.com/en/luxury-rooftop-rome" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Palazzo Ripetta Etere </a></strong>offers its customers a location with a view of the city’s history.&nbsp;Hidden on the fourth floor of <strong>Palazzo Ripetta, Etere</strong>, the new rooftop of the hotel is a mix of flair and design that concretizes the expression of the wine bar par excellence in shapes, structures and furnishings that in shades of red and gray run along the terrace, characterizing it and making it unique. Deliberately informal, <strong>Etere </strong>is an open-air cellar, where the selection of the bar is the master and the proposal of Executive Chef Marco Ciccotelli is an absolute certainty.</p>

<p>Fall colors and Törggelen in South Tyrol&#8217;s Bressanone, where the time of the grape harvest is imminent. It is the time when the bright reds and yellows of deciduous and larch trees stand out alongside evergreen trees such as pines and firs and where forests, hills and mountains are dressed in color.</p>

<p>The Törggelen season in the Isarco Valley is very close to the harvest with grapes and apples. It is an ancient South Tyrolean tradition that is celebrated every year in this period: the word “törggelen” derives etymologically from “torggl”, the press. After the harvest, the peasants went on pilgrimage from one press to another to taste the new wine and exchange opinions. In the taverns today South Tyrolean dishes are served and everywhere you can smell the scent of roasted chestnuts. In October and November a guide accompanies the participants on an excursion through the vineyards around Bressanone to experience this local custom up close.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone2.jpg" alt="Törggelen in Bressanone" class="wp-image-2407" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone2.jpg 1024w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone2-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone2-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The viticulture that characterizes the Bressanone landscape is also the origin of Törggelen. And it is precisely around the wine that the wine tour offers another autumn experience in the city. In September and 15 October the Bressanone tourist office offers a guided tour of the city with tasting of three typical wines in places with a refined atmosphere: in the Renaissance courtyard of the Hofburg, in the historic setting of the Elephant Hotel and in the Vitis del Finsterwirt / Oste wine shop.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone3.jpg" alt="Bressanone Törggelen" class="wp-image-2409" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone3.jpg 1024w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone3-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone3-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Bressanone3-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Also in September and October, there is an autumn hike on the Plose, the mountain of Bressanone with a refreshment stop in the hut. A simple route, suitable for everyone, which starts from the arrival of the Plose cable car through a panoramic path, where you can enjoy the spectacle of colors and the majestic peaks of the Odle and Sass de Putia.</p>

<p>Finally, in October and November, the holiday areas of Rio Pusteria, Bressanone, Chiusa-Barbiano-Velturno-Villandro, Naz-Sciaves and Luson offer their guests, the &#8220;Emotions in the hut&#8221;, a very special insight into their peasant culture. of the mountains and their craft traditions.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Nature awakens on the mountains of Trentino</h3>

<p>Between April and June, the opportunity is right for a journey to discover the different alpine blooms. Among those to be admired are the Botton d&#8217;oro del Baldo, the apple orchards of the Val di Non, and the orchids at Lavazè.</p>

<p>Between Vallagarina and Lake Garda, the territory of&nbsp;the<strong> Local Natural Park of Monte Baldo</strong>&nbsp;has been known since the Middle Ages. Botanists from all over Europe love the area for its biodiversity and wealth of preglacial endemic species. They have been able to reach us because they have colonized the higher areas not covered by ice caps in the Quaternary.&nbsp;Due to their particularity and rarity, some species still present are accompanied by the adjective baldensis, which recognizes their uniqueness.&nbsp; The most common, however, are arnica, lilies, gentians, orchids, botton d&#8217;oro and silver geraniums. Between May and June, they create colorful carpets on the meadows at high altitude that can be observed along the itineraries of the park.&nbsp;Particularly spectacular here is the flowering of the Golden Botton, unmistakable for its intense yellow flowers.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Alpine-blooms2.jpg" alt="Trentino alpine blooms" class="wp-image-2116" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Alpine-blooms2.jpg 1024w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Alpine-blooms2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Alpine-blooms2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Alpine-blooms2-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Alpine-blooms2-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The most spectacular alpine blooms can be admired walking from the Graziani refuge towards Malga Campo, Bocca Paltrane to reach the&nbsp;<strong>Malga Campei refuge in Val Paròl</strong>&nbsp;where instead you can see expanses of Botton d&#8217;oro.</p>

<p><strong>Monte Casale</strong>&nbsp;is the&nbsp;most panoramic mountain in the Valle delle Terme di Comano.&nbsp;Even up here, in the meadows at high altitude that overlook the southern slope of the Brenta Dolomites, in May nature awakens. The flowering transforms these environments into a fresco of colors and scents of dozens and&nbsp;dozens of floral species. The green summit carpet is dotted with Crocus, mountain tulips, orchids, officinal peonies, gentians, martagon lilies, rhododendrons, stellate brooms, and again the spur, lingonberry, mountain arnica, herbaceous heather and spinach alpine. The ascent to Monte Casale is an easy route without particular difficulties,&nbsp;suitable for families.</p>

<p>Now, in a few days, <strong>Valle di Non,</strong>&nbsp;the valley of apples, turns from a large green expanse, into a candid white and a soft pink, with the apple blossoms to be admired at the end of April.&nbsp; An itinerary among the blooms, suitable for everyone, can also be followed around the capital Cles.</p>

<p>To pay homage to the spectacle of spring, the <em>Strada della Mela</em> <em>e dei Sapori delle Valli di Non</em> e di Sole has created a&nbsp;program of events&nbsp;and initiatives designed for everyone.&nbsp; In April and May gastronomic walks, thematic picnics with recipes based on seasonal flowers and herbs, flowered itineraries to admire the spectacle of flowering up close, and guided excursions are offered.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The snow has arrived. It&#8217;s time to head for the mountains.</h3>

<p>The Dolomites of Val Gardena are known for impeccable skiing; however, there are some other winter adventures to make the most of your snow vacation. Here are the top Dolomites Experiences.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Sunrise</h3>

<p class="has-text-align-left">Dedicated to all those who want to experience the pleasure of being the first to leave their tracks on a track, after the passage of snow cats in the night. Even before the usual opening of the lifts, the cable car takes skiers every Tuesday to Dantercepies and every Thursday to Seceda, where the first rays of sun illuminate the Sassolungo group with a magical light. With a rich and complete breakfast, the moment becomes an experience.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The Legendary 8</h3>

<p class="has-text-align-left">The ski area of Val Gardena is also the most traditional valley in South Tyrol, with an extremely varied offer of slopes for all levels of difficulty. Each slope has its own history and some have a very special one, such as those that were the site of the World Ski Championships in 1970<strong>,</strong> and are therefore contemporary witnesses of over 100 years of skiing tradition in this Ladin Dolomite valley. “The Legendary 8” are the most beautiful and meaningful slopes of Val Gardena and extend for a total of 23 miles.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Snowshoeing</h3>

<p class="has-text-align-left">Feel the unspoiled nature in&nbsp;the Unesco World Heritage Site&nbsp;and walk through the landscape rich in Ladin culture. Accompanied by an expert mountain guide, you will explore the most beautiful places in Val Gardena. Particularly magical is the&nbsp;evening excursion&nbsp;with snowshoes under the starry sky, ending the evening in a welcoming refuge.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/SnowShoe-Hike-Val-Gardena-1024x768.jpg" alt="Snowshoeing Val Gardena" class="wp-image-1763" width="842" height="632" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/SnowShoe-Hike-Val-Gardena-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/SnowShoe-Hike-Val-Gardena-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/SnowShoe-Hike-Val-Gardena-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/SnowShoe-Hike-Val-Gardena-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/SnowShoe-Hike-Val-Gardena.jpg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 842px) 100vw, 842px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Walk with Torches</h3>

<p class="has-text-align-left">The culture of Val Gardena, the natural scenery and a touch of romance are the main characteristics of this experience.&nbsp; Both during the evening torchlight procession in the woods on the &#8220;Troi Unika&#8221; thematic path, and during the torchlight procession through the&nbsp;center of Ortisei,&nbsp;you will find yourself immersed in the stories of the Gardena craftsmanship.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Walk-with-Torches-Val-Gardena-1024x768.jpg" alt="Walk with Torches" class="wp-image-1765" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Walk-with-Torches-Val-Gardena-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Walk-with-Torches-Val-Gardena-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Walk-with-Torches-Val-Gardena-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Walk-with-Torches-Val-Gardena-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Walk-with-Torches-Val-Gardena.jpg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Special Nights</h3>

<p class="has-black-color has-text-color">Those are special nights to experience on tour with the&nbsp;Fat e-bike, with the sled, with snowshoes, practicing&nbsp;cross-country skiing in the moonlight:&nbsp;all ways to enjoy the crystalline mountain air, with the imposing Dolomite peaks. A special highlight for skiers is the yearly Sellaronda Ski Marathon where participants will complete the circuit at night. During the event, the path will be illuminated using only the participants’ helmet torches.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Water</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Time out by the lake</h3>

<p>Whenever you sit by the water, you are happy. A vacation without sea or lake &#8211; hardly imaginable! Then off to Lake Garda to the five-star luxury hotel <strong><a href="https://www.ealalakegarda.com/en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">EALA</a></strong> in Limone sul Garda. This exclusive 5-Star L hotel on Lake Garda is inspired by and owes its name to a wonderful animal that has always lived on the shores of Lake Garda: the swan, <em>eala </em>in Celtic. Enjoy the view in the spa or while swimming in the infinity pool. If you prefer to jump directly into the lake, a private beach area on the lakeside awaits you. In the evening, enjoy dinner in one of the two restaurants &#8211; with a view of the lake, of course.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="533" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Seeleiten_Aussicht_von_Suite_©_Klaus_Peterlin_web.jpg" alt="Hotel Seeleiten" class="wp-image-1984" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Seeleiten_Aussicht_von_Suite_©_Klaus_Peterlin_web.jpg 850w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Seeleiten_Aussicht_von_Suite_©_Klaus_Peterlin_web-300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Seeleiten_Aussicht_von_Suite_©_Klaus_Peterlin_web-768x482.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Seeleiten_Aussicht_von_Suite_©_Klaus_Peterlin_web-400x250.jpg 400w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /><figcaption>©Klaus Peterlin</figcaption></figure>

<p>A bit further north, near Bolzano, the <strong><a href="https://www.seeleiten.it/en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hotel Seeleiten</a></strong> welcomes you to Lake Caldaro. Two lake accesses including a sunbathing lawn and beach bar ensure wonderful days on the water. Directly in front of the hotel on Lake Caldaro there is a wonderful, spacious&nbsp;Mediterranean park&nbsp;with numerous secluded retreats that invite you to relax and sunbathe. The heated&nbsp;natural swimming pool&nbsp;in the green holiday oasis provides pleasant refreshment in between. You can also go out on a pedal boat or rowing boat, or on one of the hotel&#8217;s own stand-up paddles.</p>

<div style="height:25px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Wine &amp; Dine</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">La Dolce Vita</h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Luxurious suites in the center of Merano</strong></h3>

<p>Who does not know them, the porticos of Merano in South Tyrol? Colorful arcades, historical flair, lively and popular as ever. The medieval <em>Laubengasse</em> is one of the oldest shopping streets in the world: for more than 800 years, goods have been sold in the arcades. Lavishly decorated facades, colorfully painted wooden shutters, archways and oriels from a wide variety of stylistic eras transform the 1,300-feet long shopping mile into a living open-air museum. In the historic center of Merano, directly in the &#8220;Lauben&#8221;, are the new <a href="https://www.kuntinosuites.com/en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kuntino Suites</a> with the in-house Kuntinos Café. And with the upcoming Merano Christmas Market there is one more reason to visit.</p>

<div class="wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile"><figure class="wp-block-media-text__media"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="565" height="850" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/c-Patrick-Schwienbacher-Kuntino-Suites_PAB4640_web.jpg" alt="Laubengasse Meran" class="wp-image-1826 size-full" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/c-Patrick-Schwienbacher-Kuntino-Suites_PAB4640_web.jpg 565w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/c-Patrick-Schwienbacher-Kuntino-Suites_PAB4640_web-199x300.jpg 199w" sizes="(max-width: 565px) 100vw, 565px" /></figure><div class="wp-block-media-text__content">
<p>In 1956, the Kuntner family opened a shoe store here in the Lauben, which still exists today. In 2015, the family acquired the building at Lauben 309, right next to the shoe store, and had it extensively restored. Architects and designers have combined, with great sensitivity, the valuable remains of the past with modern comfort and high-quality interior. With the Kuntino Suites they created a special jewel box in the heart of Merano. At only 25 years of age, the daughter of the house, Aurelie Kuntner, took over the responsibility for the Kuntino Suites &#8211; typical South Tyrol, because here the melding of tradition and modernity is not a tactic, but rather a local attitude to life.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Nine individual and luxurious suites in the heart of the old town of Merano</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="567" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kuntino-Suites-Meran-Armin-Terzer_web.jpg" alt="Kuntino Suites Merano" class="wp-image-1628" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kuntino-Suites-Meran-Armin-Terzer_web.jpg 850w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kuntino-Suites-Meran-Armin-Terzer_web-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kuntino-Suites-Meran-Armin-Terzer_web-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kuntino-Suites-Meran-Armin-Terzer_web-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Kuntino-Suites-Meran-Armin-Terzer_web-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure></div>

<p>In the nine suites, the history of the house is carefully preserved and at the same time offers an aesthetic contrast: vaulted ceilings, artistic tiled stoves and antiques merge with clear lines and modern comfort to create a literally stylish ambience. Tranquility spreads behind the historic walls, although the pulse of the spa town beats directly in front of the mighty entrance door on the first floor. Some of the suites have a small terrace or balcony facing the backyard, where only the chirping of birds can be heard. </p>

<p>All suites have a kitchen equipped with the most important utensils as well as a bathroom with shower or bathtub, WiFi, safe, bathrobes, bath sandals and comfort zone cosmetics.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Well served and “Hetz hobn”* &#8211; Food &amp; Drink</strong></h3>

<p>The in-house Café Kuntinos is located directly below the suites. Through the glass facade in the stairwell, you can already see whether a seat is still available. Or, you can sit outside, under the porticos. Guests of the Kuntino Suites can enjoy healthy bowls, Bruschetta, <em>Piadine</em> (small sandwiches), freshly squeezed juices and delicious 100% Arabica coffee to start the day.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="566" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/PAB4739-min_web.jpg" alt="Cafe Kuntinos" class="wp-image-1630" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/PAB4739-min_web.jpg 850w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/PAB4739-min_web-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/PAB4739-min_web-768x511.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/PAB4739-min_web-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/PAB4739-min_web-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /></figure></div>

<p>The hostess of the Kuntino Suites, Aurelie Kuntner, is standing behind the counter, together with Christian Comper, who has mixed cocktails and served delicious aperitifs in legendary bars like <em>Icebergs</em> in Sydney. For lunch and dinner, guests will find a wide range of options.</p>

<p>Aurelie Kuntner personally advises each guest and reserves a table in the desired location. The South Tyrolean cuisine is known for its Mediterranean influence. In Merano you will find Michelin-starred restaurants as well as down-to-earth inns with traditional cuisine. Fine wines from the local wineries are ideal companions for the dishes.</p>

<p>*having fun</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>In and around Merano, in the heart of South Tyrol &#8211; activities and destination</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-style-default"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="567" height="850" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Passeier-Tal2_IDM-Sudtirol_Alto-Adige_Frieder-Blickle_web.jpg" alt="Passeier Tal Merano" class="wp-image-1636" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Passeier-Tal2_IDM-Sudtirol_Alto-Adige_Frieder-Blickle_web.jpg 567w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Passeier-Tal2_IDM-Sudtirol_Alto-Adige_Frieder-Blickle_web-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="(max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px" /><figcaption>Photo: IDM Südtirol_Alto Adige_Frieder Blickl</figcaption></figure>

<p>In Merano, <em>Dolce Vita</em> and Mediterranean effortlessness meet the customs and traditions of the Alps. Between palm trees and snow-capped mountain peaks, medieval arcades and magnificent buildings of the Belle Époque line up. Right from the city, you can take a chairlift which leads to Dorf Tirol, where the mountains are within reach. Even without the chairlift, it is easy to conquer the mountain world directly from the Kuntino Suites. The <em>Tappeinerweg</em>, one of the longest and most beautiful high-altitude promenades in Europe, begins just a few meters from the Lauben. Cypresses, pines and panoramic views of Merano characterize this path.</p>

<p>Merano 2000, the skiing and hiking area located above the city, offers vacationers a wide range of sporting opportunities &#8211; thanks to mountain bike routes, hiking trails, via ferratas and summit destinations. For those interested in culture, a piece of the city&#8217;s history already opens up in the arcades. The diverse cultural offerings range from the Merano Spring Festival to the Grape Festival, the Merano Music Weeks to the Merano Wine Festival. Vacationers can explore the multitude of castles, palaces, gardens and parks on guided tours or on their own.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Merano Christmas</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="850" height="566" src="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Merano-Christmas_IDM-Sudtirol_Alto-Adige_Alex-Filz_web.jpg" alt="Merano Christmas" class="wp-image-1640" srcset="https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Merano-Christmas_IDM-Sudtirol_Alto-Adige_Alex-Filz_web.jpg 850w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Merano-Christmas_IDM-Sudtirol_Alto-Adige_Alex-Filz_web-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Merano-Christmas_IDM-Sudtirol_Alto-Adige_Alex-Filz_web-768x511.jpg 768w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Merano-Christmas_IDM-Sudtirol_Alto-Adige_Alex-Filz_web-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.discover-italy-magazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Merano-Christmas_IDM-Sudtirol_Alto-Adige_Alex-Filz_web-600x400.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px" /><figcaption>Photo: IDM Südtirol_Alto Adige_Alex Filz</figcaption></figure>

<p>Speaking of cultural offerings, the traditional Merano Christmas Market awaits you in the pre-Christmas season along the enchanting promenade. Around 80 wooden booths display a wide range of gift ideas between the 1st Advent and the beginning of January, creating a very special Christmas atmosphere.</p>

<p>The numerous booths in the old town and along the <em>Kurpromenade</em> offer some special drinks and food: you can enjoy a honey wine or try a &#8220;Feuerzangenbowle&#8221; and taste some grilled buckwheat dumplings. In addition, there are textiles, jewelry, ceramics and articles made of wood.</p>

<p>Special features are the digital Advent calendar, the parade of <em>Krampus</em> and <em>St. Nicholas</em> at the beginning of December, and the glow of lights in Merano. The little guests, on the other hand, have been thought of at the Merano Christmas with activities suitable for children which will light up their eyes.</p>

<p>The Merano region is particularly characterized by its mild climate. In this sunny area &#8211; 300 days of sunshine a year are not uncommon &#8211; spring arrives very early, winter very late. In addition, the air of the region is particularly fresh and healing. The Kuntino Suites are an ideal starting point to experience Merano and its surroundings. The Kuntino Suites in Merano are part of the Vinum Hotels South Tyrol. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Nestled in the most beautiful vineyards, the 29 Vinum Hotels South Tyrol are the top vacation address for everyone who wants to experience wine culture up close and personally get to know the people behind it. The family-run hotels are as diverse as the nature of South Tyrol: from a castle hotel with its own vineyard to a design, tree or eco hotel, every guest will find the right Vinum domicile.</p>

<p>In the Vinum Hotels, the vine is close enough to touch, the finest wines of South Tyrol are stored in antique wine cellars, the hosts personally guide you through the vineyards, and in addition to wine menus and numerous activities related to the noble drop, there are also wine treatments in selected wellness areas.</p>

<p>All Vinum Hotels have one thing in common: they are run by passionate wine connoisseurs with dedication and wine know-how. They enthusiastically open the doors to their wine cellars, take their guests into the vineyards, and to wineries. Many of the Vinum hoteliers are winemakers themselves and provide insight into the agricultural processes, reveal what the vine needs to mature into a top wine. At the very latest, the guest internalizes South Tyrol with all its senses during the wine tasting.</p>
